Hi, I’m Dr. Margaret Paul, and I want to talk to you today about the ultimate way of healing addictions. So many people suffer from so many different kinds of addictions.
Not just addiction to food or drugs or alcohol or other substances, but also addictions to anger, to worry, to fear to gambling, I mean there’s so many ways, and to sex, that’s another one, I don’t want to leave that one out.
So many people are not only addicted to sex, but to pornography on the internet. So I want to talk to you about inner bonding, which is the ultimate to healing addictions.
Let’s talk for a moment about what causes addictions. Addictions are caused by a feeling of emptiness inside and that emptiness wants to get filled, whether you learn to fill it with food or some other substances or with an activity or something like anger or sex.
There are many ways people learn to fill that feeling of emptiness and aloneness that’s with in them, and underneath those feeling may be loneliness and heartache and heartbreak that people have no idea how to manage.
So when these difficult feelings are here, most of you want to get rid of them. And one of the major ways that you might have learned to get rid of these feelings is to turn to various addictions.
And you might have tried many ways of letting go of these addictions.
But unless you truly know how to fill up that emptiness and to manage the painful feelings, that emptiness and those feelings may come back and you may find yourself turning to various addictions.
Even if you stopped one addiction, such as alcohol, you might find yourself turning it to cigarettes or to food to fill up that emptiness and to take away the pain that you do not know how to manage.
Now inner bounding is an incredible process, the ultimate way of healing addictions, because inner bonding teaches you how to fill up that empty place within, how to manage the deeper feelings of loneliness and heartache and heartbreak, how to learn to take loving action on your own behalf, how to learn to fill yourself up with love so that you don’t need to be turning to those addictions.
These very powerful six steps, when practiced, will move you out of your addictions and into a sense of fullness and wholeness and the ability to share love with other people.
So I want to encourage you all to learn the inner bonding practice. It will teach you how to connect with your feelings and how to manage these, as is said, deeper painful feelings and how to connect with a personal source of spiritual guidance.
I worked with many people, for example, that have been in AA and they absolutely believe that there’s a higher power but they may not know how to connect with their personal source of spiritual guidance, their personal source of love, how to turn to their higher power for a dependable source of love that they can bring inside to fill up that emptiness and to manage the deeper feelings of loneliness and heartbreak.
Inner bonding teaches you how to have this personal spiritual connection, how to find the courage within to take loving action on your own behalf, so that you’re not abandoning yourself.
So much of the loneliness comes from the self-abandonment, and we have all learned as we were growing up there are many ways of abandoning ourselves, of ignoring our feelings, of turning to addictions, of making others responsible.
When you learn and practice inner bonding, you move beyond self-abandonment into true loving action on your own behalf.
So how do you learn inner bonding? They are many ways.
